MAF Software for Monthly Reporting on Organization Performance:

What is this Software?

MAF (Management Analysis and Forecasting) is an Excel template with all system formulae converted to binary code. It summarises and forecasts critical organisation performance data each month to produce two summaries of performance:

Each summary includes forecasts for up to two fiscal years, automatically updated each month.

Why Use This Software?

The CEO, directors, and managers get comprehensive information on organization performance each month, with forecasts, in a format familiar to businesspersons.

MAF includes all key financial data including indicative taxes calculated automatically for cashflow.

MAF includes a range of stakeholders assessed by the CEO to be important, and a range of key indicators assessed as important for each stakeholder.

It facilitates easy construction of budgets or targets at the beginning of each year and apportionment of these over each month of the calendar year.

It automatically presents a summary each month comparing actual financial data and actual operational data with budget or target.

The summaries automatically include independent forecasts of financial data and operational data for the current fiscal year and next fiscal year.

The CEO, directors and managers may use sensitivity analysis to vary forecasting assumptions and explore alternative scenarios for the impact of future changes.

The CEO, directors and managers may see in advance the possible value added each year for each major stakeholder in the organization.

MAF fills a need for easy monitoring of organization performance each month as spelt out in the paper https://ssrn.com/abstract=4830384

What is Different About This Software?

MAF presents a financial summary and an operational summary in a standard format that protects against omissions. The layout clearly shows key financial data and important stakeholders. The system automatically reflects changes in financial revenue and expenses in financial assets and liabilities.

A system operator may link operational data and financial data by their own formulae in creating budgets, targets, and forecasts.

A system operator may easily provide for automatic calculation of indicative taxes in budgets, targets, and forecasts, for cashflow purposes. Taxes included are revenue tax (VAT, GST, or Sales Tax) and Income Tax.

A system operator may include the range of key indicator data for each stakeholder outlined in the SSRN paper mentioned above - quantitative output, quality, efficiency, compliance, learning and growth, and influential factors.

MAF is an Excel template, and Excel is a stable programming platform used for many years and widely understood. The flow of data within the system is auditable. Businesspersons generally understand Excel charting facilities. System modifications for custom requirements may be easier than other specialised programming languages.

An operator may choose twelve calendar months per year, or thirteen four-week periods per year, in which to summarise and report organisation performance.

MAF includes provision for the operator to list assumptions and qualifications in memoranda attached to reports.

MAF reports supplement organisation in-house accounting software and operating systems output. It does not operate as a repository of actual business transaction data.

MAF has been extensively tested in a laboratory environment.
